Tron Lightcycle : The Future Vehicle

As Ducati gets ready to unveil its 2011 line-up in Milan tomorrow, there’s one bike we are more than certain won’t make the showcase: the Ducati Tron Lightcycle. While Ducati is expected to make a cameo-appearance in the new Tron Legacy movie, we don’t think the Bologna-based company’s product placement will go quite as far as this Ducati fan’s imagination. One of the better photoshops we’ve seen in a while, the oil filter protruding from the bottom of the bike makes us squirm with delight

Zero MX : Zero Motorcycles

high res zero motorcycle image

Once you’re in the air, it’s all about the landing.
The Zero MX takes our revolutionary electric motorcycle technology to the track. Incredibly tough and lightweight, the Zero MX uses our newly developed suspension system to absorb aggressive terrain and give you an edge. Combined with our state-of-the-art Z-Force™ technology and ultra-light frame design, the Zero MX is agile and fast where it counts.
By developing a custom suspension system we have made the Zero MX highly responsive while maintaining an industry leading power-to-weight ratio. During aggressive riding the advanced suspension system and alloy wheels take the hits while smoothly maintaining control. Intensity combines with silence to open up a new world of riding possibilities.

Frame – Sculpted Aircraft Grade Aluminum Means Lighter, Stronger, and Faster
At the core of the Zero MX lies the ultimate dirt bike frame that we’ve engineered from the ground up and hand crafted using aircraft grade aluminum. The resulting combination of lower weight and higher strength means more responsiveness. In the turns and off the line this translates into greater acceleration. To make the frame even more durable each one is shot-peened and anodized.
  • Hydroformed top tube for increased strength & reduced weight
  • Massive swingarm for increased strength & torsional rigidity (better cornering and tracking)
  • Large cylindrical swingarm cross tube for increased stiffness & suspension response
  • Thru-axle rear hub for exponentially increased strength & rigidity
  • Entire frame is shot-peened and anodized for resistance to corrosion and abrasion
  • Organic frame gusseting for increased strength & smoother body lines
  • Bodywork is highlighted with new color graphics

Motor and Energy– High Torque and Acceleration
Fueled by Zero Motorcycles’ proprietary lithium ion power pack, the Zero MX delivers more torque than any other motorcycle in its class. This is made possible by our power pack’s ability efficiently dump an incredibly high amount of power as soon as you punch the throttle. Using an advanced monitoring system, each cell in the power pack is individually controlled during charge and discharge. The charger integrates into this system and uses a specially developed charge profile to optimize the power pack’s recharge time.
Think of it this way, fuel systems are to gas motorcycles what electrical systems are to electrical motorcycles. Where others use a small carburetor and fuel pump, we use a highly tuned fuel injection system. We’ve found a way of rapidly flowing more energy out of our power pack than any of our competitors. This means more acceleration and more fun.
Zero MX Electric Motorcycle Power Pack and Frame

grey line
Drivetrain – Larger Chain and Sprockets for Increased Durability & Longer Life

Mavizen TTX02 an electric superbike

Overview Mavizen TTX02

The TTX02 is the world’s first production electric superbike. With a number of world firsts combined with the proven chassis from KTM and drivetrain from the TTXGP winning Agni bike; the TTX02 is an exclusive opportunity to procure a platform for development and racing across the entire TTXGP racing programme.
Our race proven technology is primed for the track however if you would like to make your TTX road legal (where permissible by local laws and regulations) we can provide the components to make this possible. We advise you to contact your national motor vehicle licensing authority for advice on obtaining single vehicle type approval.
Please be advised, that although Mavizen will help you to obtain this approval, this in no way transfers any liability or warranty risks to Mavizen.
Please contact us for more information before you proceed.

PERFORMANCE:

The TTX02 delivers performance, with incredible off-the-line acceleration and a formidable top speed of 130mph depending on the gearing.
Contrary to general perceptions, this electric motorcycle is 15kg lighter at 170kg than the same bike with a petrol engine without fuel or fluids.

With a 7.5kWh battery pack the range is enough to complete TTXGP races at full pace (25 miles +) and can be up to 110miles during road use.

RACE HERITAGE

The TTX02 was initially built for racing, as an off the shelf race bike.  A TTX02 has competed in every round of the TTXGP season, with three in the Final at Albacete, Spain.  This has been a fantastic development opportunity and the lessons learnt from the experience have been directly transferred to the bike.

CHEWII – ON BOARD PC

A touch screen visual display unit informs the rider exactly how the bike is performing, providing real time information on temperatures, current draw, voltage and power usage.  The CHEWII system runs on an Intel chip and has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB, allowing remote access for checking the battery charge or uploading new settings.

HOT-SWAPPABLE POWERTRAIN

The entire powertrain, including batteries, motors and controller can be removed in less than 5 minutes.  This negates the charging time and means that on trackdays or for racing the bike can quickly be back out on track.
The powertrain is housed by a structurally reinforced, Kevlar lined, carbon fibre box which replaces the semi-stressed engine.
The TTX02 powertrain is extremely versatile, with many easily configurable settings for power delivery and efficiency and it is also easily adapted for other applications, even boats!

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gvqSxFO-17Y/TPTfj3nQpKI/AAAAAAAABjM/0mpp7X__nfc/s1600/gywxqb95.jpg
Overview of TVS Velocity 160 Street Fighter

TVS recently displayed the Velocity 160 Street Fighter concept at the Jakarta Motorcycle Show. It is basically a modified version of the Apache RTR 160, it also looks somewhat similar to the Yamaha FZ16 especially from the front. This street-fighter avatar of the Apache RTR 160 has huge front petal disc brakes, upside down forks, a non-faired front, wide tyres and wait for it, a rear mono-shock as the hallmarks of its design. The streetfighter concept has been shown so as to gauge the initial reaction of the Indonesian public towards such a design.

Nissan LEAF : Electric Car

http://www.autofans.us/images/Nissan/2010%20Nissan%20Leaf%20EV%202.jpg

Engine and Batteries

The car has an AC synchronous electric motor of 80 kW (107 bhp) with a torque of 280 Nm. The motor is powered by  48 lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries with a total capacity of 24 kWh.  The batteries are located under the seats.   This gives the car a low center of gravity. The battery pack will be covered by an 8-year, 100,000-mile warranty.
Top speed of the car is 90 mph and has a 100 miles/charge based upon US EPA LA4 City cycle.  At 55 mph on the highway in 95 degrees and the A/C on,  expect the range to be 70 miles.

http://files.conceptcarz.com/img/Nissan/2010-Nissan-Leaf-Sedan-Image-020.jpg

Charging

The car as an 3.3 kW onboard charger for the battery and comes with a portable trickle charge cable (120V/20-A).  As the name implies,  this will be primarily used for opportunity charging and is not recommended to be the primary method of charging.  For that,  Nissan has a home charging dock which uses a 220/240V 40A dedicated line in the home.  A full charge will take 8h on a 220/240V home charging station.
A 480V quick-charging capability will eventually be available in many markets once a standard is set.   480V quickcharge 80% full will take 30 minutes.
It is possible to set a charging timer in the car and control the car’s functions and charging from any computer or internet-enabled phone.
Further,  the Nissan LEAF’s navigation system will be able to show the charging locations along the route.
